Seven shootings and nine people injured in Columbus over the weekend

Police say there were a total of seven shootings that caused injuries to nine people over the weekend in Columbus.

The shootings stretched around the city including the following locations, according to the Columbus Police Department’s official Twitter from May 6 through May 8:

  • A shooting on Lafayette Drive

  • A shooting in the area of Fourth Ave and 29th Street

  • A shooting on Bay Avenue near Banks Food Hall

  • A shooting in the 2800 block of 10th Street

  • A shooting on I-185 South just past the exit ramp to Manchester Expressway

  • A shooting in the 1500 block of Bowman Street

  • A shooting in the 1600 block of Edgechester Drive

Police say that there was also a stabbing in addition to the shootings.

No deaths were reported from the barrage of shootings, police said.

The outbreak of shootings comes during a time of concern regarding gun violence in the city with over 20 homicides in the area since the beginning of the year, according to reporting by the Ledger-Enquirer.
