The location in Calhoun, Georgia, will close on the afternoon of Feb. 11 to remodel its drive-thru and dine-in spaces. The restaurant did not have a time table for how long the remodel will take.
What makes this restaurant special? Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy and his younger brother, Ben, opened The Dwarf Grill (later renamed The Dwarf House) in Hapeville, Georgia on May 23, 1946.
It is here in 1964 that Truett Cathy invented – and his customers at The Dwarf House taste-tested – what is now known as the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich.
But the Dwarf House didn't always look like this.

and this was the original Hapeville Dwarf Grill in 1946.

Many classic Chick-fil-A items began as menu items at The Dwarf Grill/House.
The Dwarf House is where Chick-fil-A’s “closed on Sunday” tradition began. Because the original Dwarf Grill was open 24-hours-a-day, Truett gave restaurant employees Sundays of so they could worship if they chose to and rest.

In 2022, after a nine-month rebuild, The Dwarf House was expanded to serve more guests and redesigned to feature uniquestorytelling experiences that celebrate the legacy of Truett Cathy and where Chick-fil-A began.
There are several bronze statues around the property that honor important people in Chick-fil-A's history.
The Dwarf House is a full-service diner that serves staples like hamburgers, sandwiches and handmade pies in addition to the full Chick-fil-A menu. It is one of 18 STC Brands Restaurants.
