Several injured, cars trapped in Bolivia landslide

STORY: Land and rocks slid from 25 meters high, carving a 5-meter slope.

Victims were transported to emergency services as La Paz’s mayor, Ivan Arias, said they were still working in case more people are trapped.

Authorities cite potential causes for terrain instability being the extreme temperature changes –ranging from up to 62.6 degrees Fahrenheit to 46.6 degrees Fahrenheit– as well as an earthquake that took place in Peru a couple of weeks ago.

Landslides are common in La Paz, as it has 400 underground rivers, making the ground on which the city was built unstable.
