Suspicious package in uptown deemed harmless after investigation, CMPD says

A suspicious package was a deemed harmless piece of art after an investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, police tweeted that a large section of South Tryon Street in uptown Charlotte had been shut down due to a suspicious package.

Roads at the intersection of Fourth Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Levine Avenue of the Arts were temporarily shut down while police investigated.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, police announced that the investigation had cleared and all of the roads were back open.
