The metro-east softball season continued with several games over the weekend.

Southwestern Conference

Mount Zion 12, Belleville West 4

The Maroons dropped an 8-run verdict while falling to 10-6.

Taylar McCaster led Belleville West with 2 RBI.

Jerseyville 12, Belleville East 8 (Game 1); Belleville East 10, Jerseyville 0 (Game 2)

The Lancers split a doubleheader with the Panthers and now stand at 16-7-1 on the season. The Panthers are 10-5.

Ava Hamilton had 3 RBI for Belleville East in the opener while Serenity Childress add 2 RBI and Ashlynn Samson posted 3 hits. Emily Collins posted 3 RBI for Jerseyville.

In Game 2, Emma Fetters, Olivia Hemmerle and Emma Loyet each posted 2 RBI for Belleville East, while Hemmerle tossed 5 shutout innings for the win.

Against Newton, Samantha Roulanaitis had 2 RBI, while twirling 6 strong innings on the mound for the win.

Against Teutopolis, Nicole Edmiaston threw 6 solid frames for the win while driving in a run. Emma Otten and Roulanaitis each had 2 RBI as well.

Columbia 6, Waterloo 2 (Friday)

The Eagles eased to a 4-run victory against their Monroe County rivals to improve to 10-7.

Reese Jarrard led Columbia with 2 RBI, while Paige Froess fired a complete-game 5-hitter for the victory.

Waltonville 6, Breese Central 5; Breese Central 5, Murphysboro 4

The Cougars split a pair of games at Nashville and are now 7-9 on the season.

The Bulldogs rolled to a doubleheader sweep as they improved to 12-6.

In the opener, Maddie Gummersheimer blasted 2 home runs and drove in 8 runs, while Lilly Heck added 3 RBI. Samantha Juelfs earned the win.
