Several Michigan colleges to compete in NCAA lower division football postseasons

It's postseason time for college football across the country. Dozens of colleges will compete in the lower division playoffs for the NCAA. Several Michigan college's were able to make the postseason this year. Here's a look at the opening matchups for each of those schools and where the contest will be played.

In addition to the teams listed below, Hillsdale College will be playing in the America's Crossroads NCAA DII Bowl Game. An article on that game can be found at hillsdale.net.

University of Wisconsin-LA Crosse at Albion College - NCAA DIII

The Albion College Britons qualified for the NCAA DIII postseason after a 9-1 season and winning the MIAA conference.

They will host a round one home playoff game against Wisconsin-La Crosse (8-2) Saturday, Nov. 20 at 12:00 p.m.

Albion Athletics will be hosting a live stream broadcast of the game on their Youtube page.

Albion College has direct ties to Hillsdale County as they currently have several former Hillsdale County football players on their roster.

Former Reading Ranger quarterback Porter Mauk, receiver Gabe Rife, receiver Dilon Denison, and lineman Izac Reynolds are currently listed on the Brit's roster.

The winner moves on to play the winner of North Central and Carnegie Mellon in the second round of the playoffs.

Lindenwood at Grand Valley State - NCAA DII

Grand Valley State was selected as a four seed in the NCAA DII football playoffs this season. They will host a round one game against Lindenwood (9-2) on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Lubbers Stadium.

The Lakers' only loss in the regular season was against Ferris State.

The winner of this game moves on to play number one seeded Ferris State in round two.

There are no current former Hillsdale County athletes on the Lakers' roster.

Ferris State - First Round Bye - NCAA DII

The Ferris State Bulldogs came into the NCAA Division II football playoffs ranked as the number one team in the country, and were selected as the number one seed.

The Bulldogs will enjoy a first round bye before going up against the winner of the GVSU - Lindenwood matchup in round one.

There are currently no former Hillsdale County athletes on the recent Ferris State football roster.

Saint Xavier (Illinois) at Concordia - NAIA

Concordia University earned an at-large bid at 8-1 overall in the NAIA football playoffs, and earned the number eight seed.

They will be hosting the first round playoff game against Saint Xavier (8-2) at Cardinal Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Nov. 20. The game will start at 1:00 p.m.

There are no current players from Hillsdale County on Concordia's roster.
