Several suspects, one a convicted sex offender, arrested in Staunton online police sting

STAUNTON — Authorities rounded up several men in the city's latest online sting operation targeting online child sex predators, according to a press release from the Staunton Police Department.

One of the suspects is from Staunton and another resides in Crimora. Eight men were charged, one of them who is already a convicted sex offender, according to the state's sex offender registry.

Undercover police posed as teenagers under the age of 15 during the sting operation.

The Staunton Police Department said the following men were arrested during the months-long investigation that lasted from March to June:

— Santos Aguilar, 25, of Staunton, is charged with one count of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

— Kevin Cahill, 37, of King George, is charged with 10 counts of online solicitation of a minor. Cahill is a registered sex offender after being convicted in 2014 in Fairfax County on charges of possessing child pornography and proposing a sex act with a minor via a communications system, according to Virginia State Police.

— Jamie Conner, 52, of Buena Vista, is charged with three counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

— Atticus Conway, 30, of Bridgewater, is charged with four counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

— Mario Corchachdo, 34, of Charlottesville, is charged with one count of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

— Daniel Eavey, 58, of Crimora, is charged with 10 counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

— Thomas Riggleman, 56, of Broadway, is charged with one count of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

— Larry Wood, 40, of Harrisonburg, is charged with one count of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.
