Severe Flooding Causes Destruction in West Point, New York

Severe flooding caused damage in West Point, New York, local media reported on July 11.

Homes and vehicles were flooded and roads crumbled, as floodwaters swept through the area, the report said.

These images were published by the US Military Academy West Point.

In a Facebook post, academy officials said: “The US Military Academy is assessing the extent of the damage caused by flash flooding in Orange County yesterday. Local and state emergency responders are on site and providing the West Point community with steadfast support.”

At least one person died after catastrophic flash flooding affected New York’s Orange County on Sunday, July 9, officials said.
