Severe storms possible Saturday in South Florida

Severe storms are possible Saturday across South Florida, as storm clouds from the Gulf of Mexico sweep east across the state, the National Weather Service said.

Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties face a “marginal risk” of severe weather, which could include high winds, hail, flooding and tornadoes, the weather service said.

The storms, if they materialize, could arrive from mid-afternoon through the evening, possibly lingering overnight, the weather service said.

The most likely effects are wind, heavy rain and small hail. But if the area experiences storms that are stronger than expected, there could be damaging wind gusts and a brief tornado, the weather service said.
