A strong cold front moved across the region on Thursday, bringing with it showers and some strong to severe storms. Much of the region, including metro St. Louis, was placed at a Level 3 (out of 5) risk for severe weather.

The late afternoon storm band led to numerous reports of power outages and hail across the FOX 2 viewing area.

By 6:30 p.m., tornadoes were confirmed in five locations: Twin Rivers in Jefferson County, west of High Ridge, west of Palmya in Macoupin County, east of Cahokia, and southeast of Dorsey.

Rain and storms will exit off to the east Thursday evening and a north wind will take hold. That will usher in much cooler temperatures for Friday and the weekend. Highs Friday through Sunday will only be near 60. Overnight temperatures will be back down in the 40s.
