Severe thunderstorm warning, hail cautioned for Delaware on Friday

Portions of all three Delaware counties are under a severe thunderstorm watch or warning Friday morning after a tornado warning in Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly, New Jersey, issued a tornado warning on Friday morning for the areas of Honey Brook, Elverson and Morgantown, Pennsylvania that ended at 11:45 a.m.

While the tornado warnings have ended for those Pennsylvania cities, inclement weather moves into Delaware with an advisory about severe thunderstorms throughout the state until 6 p.m.

New Castle County faces 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, with possible wind damage to roofs, siding, trees and power line, according to NWS.

Kent and Sussex counties are subject to 60 mph winds and hail half the size of a dollar bill, NWS reported.

Stay safe by moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of the building you are in.

As of Friday around noon, Delaware has not been issued a tornado watch or warning, but the weather continues to be monitored through radar indications, according to NWS.
