Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect across much of Connecticut through 6 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. as storms tear across the Northeast with rain and gusting winds.
One warning applies to the northernmost parts of Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties through 6 p.m. as one line of storms approaches that area.
Another applies to much of Fairfield and New Haven counties as more storms approach Danbury, Bridgeport and into New Haven.
The storm may bring 60 mph wind gusts that could damage trees and power lines and some small hail, according to the National Weather Service.
