A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the counties in pink

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued the following alert:

Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Eastern Ohio
Western and Northern Pennsylvania
Northern West Virginia Panhandle

  • Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 455 PM until
    1100 PM EDT.

  • Primary threats include…
    Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
    Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
    inches in diameter possible
    A tornado or two possible SUMMARY…A band of thunderstorms is forecast to develop from
    eastern Ohio into western and northern Pennsylvania late this
    afternoon into the evening. The thunderstorms will intensify and
    the stronger storms will be capable of damaging gusts and large
    hail. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55
    statute miles north and south of a line from 25 miles south
    southwest of Mansfield OH to 10 miles southeast of Wilkesbarre PA.
