A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued through 10 p.m. Wednesday across western and central Connecticut.

The watch includes Hartford, New Haven, Fairfield and Litchfield counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters predict an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the Hartford area before 2 a.m. Thursday and then a slight chance of showers until 4 a.m.

Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall, forecasters warned.
