Severe thunderstorms possible Friday, Saturday in Lansing area
LANSING — More thunderstorms are possible Friday and Saturday, and some could be severe, forecasters said.
Scattered showers and storms could fire up along a warm front passing through the Lansing region from Friday afternoon through the evening hours, and any of them will have the potential to be severe, said Scott Thomas, a forecaster at the National Weather Service's Grand Rapids station.
A line of more organized storms was expected follow on Friday night and into Saturday morning, he said.
It will be hot and humid today with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thunderstorms are likely late today through late this evening and some severe weather is possible with potential for damaging wind gusts, hail and localized flooding. #wmiwx #miwx pic.twitter.com/7MmGUAjbv9

Temperatures might touch the 90-degree mark on Friday, Thomas said. That's a little less than forecasters expected a few days ago, and cloud cover is the reason, Thomas said.
A similar thing happened Wednesday, when storms caused tree damage and power outages across southern lower Michigan. But most of the damage occurred south and east of the Lansing area.
The weather service confirmed that two EF-0 tornadoes touched down in Jackson County in the Stockbridge area on Wednesday afternoon, causing mostly tree and crop damage. No injuries were reported.
