Video shows tornado near Table Rock as severe weather hits Greenville and Spartanburg area

While officials at the National Weather Service didn't immediately confirm the development of a tornado, video of a tornado near Table Rock was posted on Twitter during a tornado warning that was issued for northern Pickens County and northwestern Greenville County late Friday afternoon.
Radar indicated a tornado had developed by 4:15 p.m. north of the Six Mile community and was headed toward the Slater-Marietta community in Greenville County, according to the National Weather Service.
Storm-chaser and meteorologist Reed Timmer posted video of the tornado on Twitter.

A severe-thunderstorm warning was issued, too, from that area eastward across northern Spartanburg County until 5:15 p.m.

All of Upstate South Carolina, western North Carolina and northeastern Georgia were in a tornado watch until 8 p.m. Friday.

A few severe thunderstorms and damaging winds scattered across the region as a cold front approached from the west, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Doug Outlaw.

Downtown Greenville, where the Artisphere festival began Friday, was likely to remain dry with highs in the lower 70s throughout the rest of the weekend. The city briefly suspended festival activities amid the threat Friday afternoon before returning to action under a clear sky by about 5 p.m.
