Severe weather is likely in the Bedford area this evening

A severe thunderstorm warning that was impacting Lawrence County was allowed to expire at 6:15 p.m. However, the area remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Thursday. Portions of Daviess, Greene, Knox and Sullivan are currently under a flood warning until 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service has placed Lawrence County under an orange "enhanced risk" for severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon.

Hazards in the area include the potential for damaging winds, large hail, isolated tornadoes and lightning.

The weather is expected to hit the Lawrence County area between 5 and 11 p.m. Thursday.

Lawrence County has also been placed under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
