Severe weather prompts tornado warnings west of Columbus with heavy rain expected for parts of Ohio
Severe weather moved through parts of Ohio with some areas west and southwest of Columbus under tornado warnings Sunday evening.
Parts of Clinton and Highland counties were under a tornado warning until 9:45 p.m. The National Weather Service Wilmington office said in a statement that the system moving through Clinton County had the capability of producing a tornado.

Heavy rain expected at times in parts of Ohio
The National Weather Service tweeted that the threat of severe weather had diminished shortly after 10:30 p.m. "Rain may be locally heavy tonight in eastern and southern counties which could result in some localized flooding issues until the cold front exits to the east overnight. Drier and cooler weather Monday."

Tornado warnings west of Columbus
Parts of Montgomery, Miami, Greene, Clark and Champaign counties have all been under tornado warnings.
The National Weather Service retweeted these photos taken from Tipp City.

Shortly before 8 p.m., the National Weather Service said all tornado warnings west of Columbus had been canceled. "The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled. However gusty winds are still possible with this thunderstorm."
Columbus, Franklin County under hazardous weather outlook
The Columbus area is under a hazardous weather outlook.
"Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage through the day and will continue into this evening. An isolated strong or severe storm may be possible with damaging winds and large hail. The greatest threat window will be between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. In addition, rain may be locally heavy which could result in some localized flooding issues," according to the National Weather Service.
The Columbus Arts Festival closed early today because of storms that moved through the area.
