Kim Cattrall is set to make her long-awaited return to the world of Sex and the City.
Variety reports that the actress will reprise her role as Samantha Jones for a single scene in the upcoming second season of Sex and the City spin-off series And Just Like That….
According to the publication, Cattrall filmed her sole scene — a telephone conversation between Samantha and her ex-bestie Carrie Bradshaw — without having contact with series creator Michael Patrick King, scene partner Sarah Jessica Parker or any of the rest of the cast.
Digital Spy has reached out to representatives for Kim Cattrall for comment.
Kim had previously declined to take part in And Just Like That… when it was first announced and went so far as to suggest the character be recast.
The character was mentioned at pivotal points in the first season of And Just Like That…, where it was explained Samantha had moved to London after being fired as Carrie's book agent.
The two eventually mended fences over texts following the death of Carrie's husband Mr Big, though Cattrall was critical of the way her character was written.
The actress later suggested that the way the show dealt with the character felt "different than the Samantha" she'd played in the original show and two movies.
Cattrall had a very public falling out with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker when she decided not to return for a third Sex and the City movie. Parker has always downplayed talk of a feud by insisting she'd never publicly disparage her former co-star.
Samantha Jones won't be the only familiar face in the second season of And Just Like That…, as John Corbett has reprised his role as Carrie's former boyfriend Aidan Shaw as part of a major storyline.
And Just Like That, the sequel to Sex and the City, airs on Max in the US and Sky Comedy and NOW in the UK.
