Iris (played by Hanna's Esmé Creed-Miles) and her twin sister Rose (Mack) paint dolls for a living. But Esme dreams of becoming an artist, and secretly paints herself naked in the nighttime to hone her abilities.

Another character, Silas (The Sixth Commandment's Éanna Hardwicke), is a taxidermist who hopes to become rich and famous, and believes he is one rare find away from doing so.

Meanwhile, Louis (Wedding Season's George Webster) is a painter and member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and is on the hunt for a muse.

As the Exhibition comes closer, their three worlds intertwine. Iris is offered the chance to realise her dreams, but to do so must sacrifice both her reputation and her relationship with her sister.

As Iris enters this new world, she finds herself exploring her sexuality and questioning a system grounded in patriarchy – but also develops a dark obsession.

Outside of Sex Education, Mack has also starred in the fantasy prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin.

Although seemingly a one-off project, when asked by Digital Spy, Mack admitted that she'd love to reprise the role, stating: "I can only hope. I would love to come back to be part of this universe again."

The Doll Factory will stream on Paramount+. The book of the same name by Elizabeth Macneil is available to buy now.
