Alfred Pifanio Vicario, 34, remains at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, with bail set at $250,000, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said.

Vicario, a Los Angeles County resident, is scheduled to appear on Tuesday in Victorville Superior Court, booking records show.

Victorville Sheriff’s Station officials reported that at around 10 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to an unknown problem in the shopping center at the intersection of Palmdale Road and El Evado Road.

While deputies responded a citizen contacted sheriff’s dispatch and said they helped a woman after a man tried to rape her.

Upon arrival, deputies detained the suspect, later identified as Vicario. Authorities received information confirming that Vicario was a registered sex offender on parole for indecent exposure.
