Sex offender suspected of entering woman’s apartment arrested

EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A sex offender on active parole was arrested Monday after he allegedly entered a woman’s apartment without her knowledge, authorities said.

Around 10:20 a.m., the 36-year-old man was in the woman’s apartment and grabbed a purse when the woman confronted him, Lt. Keith MacArthur with the El Cajon Police Department said in a news release Tuesday.

The man left the apartment as the woman’s daughter called police.

Shortly after, authorities located the suspect, identified as Samuel Salas, a homeless man of San Diego. Police found keys from the apartment’s management office during his arrest.

Salas, who was released from custody on Saturday, has an arrest history including failing to comply with his parole conditions in December 2023. according to police.
