Sha-what?! Shazam! star Zachary Levi to host 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards

Zachary Levi is riding his blockbuster stardom all the way to the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Being one of our current pop culture obsessions as the star of Shazam!, Levi, 38, will now host the award show on Monday, June 17 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

Let’s all join the actor in saying, “Oh… what?!” as he did in a promo video for the announcement.

Similar to with Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds, Shazam! is very much Levi’s brand now. The former Chuck star seemed to have a ball making the DC superhero movie, per comments like these he gave to EW: “It’s complete wish-fulfillment — if you scour all of DC and Marvel there are very few characters that are actually stoked to be a superhero. They’re not brooding, they’re not put out, like ‘Oh dammit, I gotta save the world again!’ Billy Batson is like Peter Parker, they’re thrilled to have these powers and can’t wait to try them out.” Now he has a larger platform to showcase his infectious personality.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards, themselves, are a lot more lax and fun than other awards ceremonies with categories like Best Kiss and Scared-As-S— Performance. Previous hosts include Tiffany Haddish, Adam DeVine, Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, and Conan O’Brien.

Categories and nominees for the 2019 ceremony will be announced in the coming weeks.
