Shadow and Bone stars react to Netflix cancellation

Shadow and Bone's Ben Barnes and other cast members have been paying tribute to the show after Netflix cancelled it.
The fantasy series was one of a few shows the streaming service axed recently, seemingly due to a combination of viewing figures and strike-production delays, while planned spin-off Six of Crows is no longer happening either.
Sharing a mix of photos and videos of the cast and crew from across the production, Barnes, who played General Kirigan, wrote: "I was so excited to watch the brilliant, beautiful humans I love so much who made Shadow & Bone take this world, their characters and this story onwards. This part of the journey is sorrowful and I am so proud to have been a part of it."

"Shadow and Bone has come to its end and I'm lost for words for now but it goes something like this," Amita Suman wrote. "At the beginning, I remember so clearly telling our incredible showrunner 'Inej will always be one of my favourite characters I will have the honour of playing', and that will forever be true.
"Not just because she has taught me to be a better person, opened so many doors, but also because she has given me in abundance, a found family, unforgettable memories, laughter lines, the honor of working alongside a cast and crew I looked forward to seeing everyday."
Archie Renaux added: "Unfortunately @shadowandbone_ has come to an end. Loved working on the show and loved working with everyone involved, truly a special time in my life."

Kit Young shared a photo of himself as Jesper and wrote: "Taken me a little time to work out what to say as I'm quite emotional about it all.
"It's been one of the greatest highlights of my career and my life so far to play Jesper and be your gunslinger. To Leigh, Eric, Deagan, all our writers, directors, crew over the years and of course the fans a special thank you to you too. Thank you for all the continued support and love. Finally to my fellow cast mates (you know how much I love you all)."
Kaz actor Freddy Carter posted a photo of a pair of gloves, and wrote: "Maybe at some point I'll have the right words to express the immense gratitude I feel to everyone who put their whole hearts into making, watching and supporting Shadow and Bone. Until then, I’ll just say, thank you. No Mourners. No Funerals."
Lewis Tan, who joined the show for season 2 as Tolya, shared some behind-the-scenes pictures and videos from both the filming and the red carpet, said: "Shadow & Bone is finished but the memories will be forever, grateful to the best fanbase ever. Thank you for making us #1 all over the world. @deadline…
"Wish I had more time to develop Tolya and taste new food from all the adventures. This was truly a special cast and crew. We sail on."
The book's author Leigh Bardugo has also shared a statement about the cancellation, admitting that the news "hit her hard".
Shadow and Bone seasons 1-2 are streaming on Netflix.
