Shake Milton is having fun in new Sixers offense with ball-handlers

The Philadelphia 76ers have a brand new offense that favors moving the ball and playing with pace under new coach Doc Rivers. In order to do that, a team has to be able to have the proper ball-handling depth to be able to run the offense in plenty of different ways.

In the past, the team had to rely so much on Ben Simmons to just run the offense that they were not able to have the proper layers to be able to make it tougher to defend. They now have guys like Shake Milton, Seth Curry, Tyrese Maxey, and others who can put the ball on the floor and create for themselves and others.

Obviously, Curry is out right now after being tested positive for coronavirus on Jan. 7, but with the team having Milton return, it helps with the offense and makes it brings back the ball movement that was there before the team was so shorthanded.

“Any time you have guys out there who just know how to play, can handle the ball, and play off the ball, it just makes your team more versatile offensively and definitely more dynamic, harder to guard,” said Milton. “You don’t really have one person you can just take away because if you do that, we have so many other weapons so, yeah, it’s been fun.”

Now that they have more options to turn to, the offense does not get as stagnant as it did in the past. The Sixers would not have anybody to turn to to make a play, but that is not the case with this team anymore.

“It definitely makes it more free-flowing too and we have a lot of guys who are just unselfish,” Milton added. “Everybody’s just unselfish and it’s about getting the best shot for the team, whatever that may be. When you have guys with that mentality, and the ball is just moving like that, it not so one-dimensional. It’s harder to guard.”

The Sixers will take on the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday to begin a quick two-game road trip over the weekend.
