Shake Shack, 2 hotels, Starbucks planned for Oxnard Riverpark's next phase

Metal scaffolding and wooden beams can be seen rising from north Oxnard's Riverpark community as expansion continues with drive-through restaurants, hotels and apartments.

Located west of The Collection shopping center along Town Center Drive, the area known as The Landing is already home to a Panda Express and Chick-fil-A. But the eateries respectively known for their American Chinese fare and chicken sandwiches won’t be alone for long.

Shake Shack is opening a 3,470 square foot drive-through near the corner of North Oxnard Boulevard. Although work has yet to start, Joe Pearson II, Oxnard’s planning and environmental services manager, said the burger joint is expected to begin construction in coming months and open in early 2025.

The nearest Shake Shack is in Thousand Oaks.

Construction is underway on a 7,236 square-foot commercial building with multiple units located north of Panda Express. While the city hasn’t confirmed most of the tenants slated to move in, it noted Starbucks is planning a drive-through coffee shop. Pearson said the city's latest Starbucks will open by the beginning of next year.

Most noticeable is a four-story Marriott hotel visible from Highway 101. Called TownePlace Suites, the hotel is expected to open in mid-2025 and is the first of two planned for The Landing, Pearson said. The second hotel, the four-story Springhill Suites, could open in mid-2026.

Both hotels will have a combined 241 rooms, according to city documents.

A 333-unit apartment complex is also planned in the same area at the corner of North Ventura Road and Town Center Drive. Called Fore Apartments, the five-story building will feature a swimming pool and rooftop deck, city documents show. Pearson said the developer has started building the six-level parking structure. The complex could open as early as 2026.

A 3,442 square foot gas station and convenience store is also expected to open in 2026, Pearson said. The service station will be accompanied by a car wash.

One property, positioned next to Chick-fil-A, is still vacant. Pearson said no proposals have been submitted.
