Listen to classical music, get creative and make your sweetie a Valentine's Day gift, or party watch a burlesque show at events happening in Springfield this weekend.

Here are five events to check out

A night of Shakespeare

Take part in an evening of romance and drama at Scintillating Shakespeare on Friday.

The music and song begin at 7:30 p.m. at the UIS Performing Arts Center, 1 University Plaza.

Classic works of Shakespeare will be featured in performances by the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and Madison King and Carl Rosenthal of MI Opera. Tickets start at $21 for adults, $10 for students age 12-24 with ID and $5 for ages 11 and under.

Parent's night out: Valentine's edition

Drop the kids off at Kidzeum and enjoy a parent's night out on Friday.

Kidzeum, 412 E. Adams St., will host activities, a movie, and dinner from 5:30-8 p.m. Children must be at least five years old and fully potty trained.

Tickets are $30 for children or $25 for children who are members.

Dinner and a murder mystery

Solve a murder mystery while having a feast at the Dinner Detective Valentine's show on Saturday.

The show begins at 6 p.m. at Maldaner’s Restaurant & Catering, 222 S. Sixth St.

The audience will get in on the act as actors will be hidden amongst the crowd. Tickets include dinner and prize packages. A cash bar will be available.

LaLa's Burlesque at Danenberger

Enjoy 75 minutes of classic rock and blues at LaLa’s Burlesque Show on Saturday. The show is billed as part comedy, dance party, and the perfect date night or girls night out entertainment.

Doors open at 8 p.m., at Danenberger Family Vineyards, 12341 Irish Road, New Berlin. The show begins at 9 p.m.

Food and drinks will be available. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Get creative with a heart

Create a gift for your loved one at the Heart Art Creative party on Sunday.

The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. at Dim Art House, 319 Chatham Road.
