For the third consecutive week, Shallowater moved up in the Texas high school football state rankings, which were released Monday ahead of Week 4.

The Mustangs jumped two spots to No. 7 in Class 3A Division I. Shallowater remained undefeated, beating their third 4A team with a 55-18 romp over Hereford. The Mustangs take on Midland Greenwood (1-2) this week.

Shallowater is now the only ranked 11-man team in the South Plains. Idalou, which was No. 10 in 3A D-II, fell out of the rankings after a 37-7 road loss at Holliday. The win pushed the Eagles up a spot to No. 2.

Borden County rose from sixth to fifth in 1A D-I, while the area's 1A D-II teams took some lumps.

Whitharral and Klondike dropped out of the top 10 following upset losses, and Jayton fell to No. 8 after a loss to Ira.
