This year, the Shallowater FFA agriculture issues team secured the national title, continuing the momentum from last year's triumph by the horse judging team and highlighting the diverse talents within the local district's FFA program.

In addition to the program win in agriculture issues, students AJ Kendrick and Kate Munson were both honored with the American FFA Degree at this year’s convention.

“This is the national degree and highest honor for an FFA member,” according to Shallowater FFA’s Facebook page. “Their involvement in production, agriculture, leadership and community service all culminated on the national stage.”

In the weeks following the 96th National FFA Convention and Expo, Shallowater FFA has sustained its success, revealing several achievements. Notable wins at the Area 1 Leadership Development Events, a competition that determines teams' eligibility for the state contest, include:

Additionally, Shallowater student Mallory Emery achieved recognition as Capital Farm Credit’s Ag Student of the Week for the Plains region. This statewide scholarship contest recognizes 10 high school seniors from each of CFC’s five chartered regions throughout the school year.
