Earlier, Thai police said Warne had asthma and some heart issues, citing information from his family.

“From our investigation at the scene, there were no valuables that went missing and no sign of assault. From the autopsy, the director of Surat Thani Hospital has confirmed his death as natural cause.”

“After all procedures are finished today, the body will be moved to Bangkok today (March 7) and likely to be put on a flight the following day as requested by the Australian embassy.”

Well-wishers left tributes outside the villa on the northeast coast of Koh Samui where Warne was found unconscious.

Warne was regarded as one of the finest spin bowlers of all time, with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison calling him "one of our nation's greatest characters".
