The Golden State Warriors took a 1-0 series lead over the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference finals on Wednesday night and did so in impressive fashion, but the NBA legends on the NBA on TNT desk believe that Dallas won’t overreact to a lopsided Game 1 loss.

Luka Doncic scored two points in the second half and had just 20 for the game, and the Mavs shot 11-of-48 from 3-point range in the 112-87 loss.

Shaquille O’Neal said after the game that the Mavericks will simply be thinking that their shots didn’t go in heading into Game 2.

“Let’s just keep it real. Dallas didn’t shoot the ball well. Luka did what he was supposed to do. They trapped him at times, they showed him two, three defenders. He kicked it out to the others, others didn’t play well. That’s what they’re saying. They’re saying ‘we didn’t shoot the ball well, however, we have experience in this department.’ In both the [previous] series, they lost Game 1, so they’re going to come out, hopefully they can shoot the ball better.”

Kenny Smith agreed, saying that Game 2 will be the true measure of the Mavericks in the series.
