Yahoo Finance Live anchors Brian Sozzi and Brad Smith discuss reports that Meta will produce a one-hour New Year’s Eve VR special hosted by Shaquille O’Neal, featuring performances from Cardi B and Ludacris.

BRIAN SOZZI: Shaq is coming to a VR headset near you. Meta's VR and social platforms will produce a one hour New Year's Eve special hosted by the former NBA player, which will include performances from Cardi B and Ludacris, and play on a loop all night.

Brad, maybe this is the thing that gets me to buy one of these glasses. I don't know. I love Shaq. I love Cardi B. And I definitely like Ludacris. I don't know. I'm on the fence. I'm on the fence.

BRAD SMITH: I mean, they're all high-profile names. Who doesn't love Shaq. And at the end of the day, if there's somebody who's gonna get you to at least see what the metaverse looks like, there's a very short list of individuals. And Shaq is one of them. He's on that list for sure.

Now, I mean, people have their own individual-- but I think in the AR and VR reality, that Facebook-- or Meta Platforms, rather, is trying to build out, and what that could look like, it's gonna come down to the events and also the ticketing, what they can charge over an extended period of time to ultimately net a profit and see some revenue come in from this. But perhaps a good starting point or at least a taste-- a taste of what viewers can expect.

BRIAN SOZZI: And we're told that he's going to be DJing a set under his DJ name, DJ Diesel.

BRAD SMITH: Yes.

BRIAN SOZZI: Maybe I will get these glasses.

BRAD SMITH: It was a Shaq Diesel.

BRIAN SOZZI: Yes, yes.
