STORY: Former basketball star Shaquille O'Neal helped out after seeing a family in trouble at the roadside on Monday (July 13), and a police dashcamera filmed him at the scene.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, O'Neal was traveling through Alachua County, Florida - near Gainesville - on Interstate 75 when he witnessed the incident. He pulled over and waited with the driver and passengers until police arrived on scene.

Local media reported a family's car had suffered a blown tyre and the former Orlando Magic and LA Lakers player, who lives in the area, stayed with them.

The National Basketball Association Hall of Famer can be seen fist bumping an officer in the video and the police can be heard thanking him for his help.
