Shark carcass hung at Ponte Vedra High School could be senior prank
A dead shark was found hanging from the ceiling at a St. Johns County school on Thursday morning. Students posted photos of the gutted shark hanging from a structure on the campus of Ponte Vedra High School on Snapchat. The incident was reportedly a senior prank. A shark is the school's mascot.

Aiden Fucci to stand trial in November in Tristyn Bailey killing
Nearly a year after 13-year-old Tristyn Bailey was killed, the teen accused in her stabbing death is scheduled to stand trial beginning Nov. 7. Aiden Fucci, 15, is charged with the first-degree murder of Bailey, a neighbor of his in the Durbin Crossing community of northwest St. Johns County. Bailey, a student at Patriot Oaks Academy, was found dead in a wooded area near her home on May 9, 2021.

Abortion ruling: St. Johns County officials react to Roe v. Wade leak
St. Johns County political and religious officials Tuesday expressed mixed opinions about the potential overturning of the landmark 1973 ruling establishing a constitutional right to abortion. A leaked draft opinion by the U.S. Supreme Court, published by Politico, showed a majority of justices supporting overturning Roe v. Wade and allowing states to ban abortion.

Fighting flooding: St. Augustine preps for new projects, studies
With millions of dollars on tap and a major study moving forward, the city of St. Augustine is embarking on new efforts to curb flooding downtown. St. Augustine includes very low-lying areas, such as Davis Shores, and the city experiences routine flooding from storms and extra high tides, sometimes referred to as "king tides."

Cathedral Place important road in St. Augustine history
The State of Florida is considering relinquishing its authority over two of the oldest streets in the state — Cathedral Place and King Street. They are also two of the oldest streets in the United States, bordering St. Augustine's Plaza, which has existed at least since 1598. The Plaza was created to be a public gathering area, market space and a venue for horse parades.
