Many Faces of Our Mental Health exhibit tour

DOVER — The Dover Mental Health Alliance is hosting a community event on Monday, July 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dover High School for a presentation of the Many Faces of Our Mental Health: 99 Faces Project. The evening will feature an exhibit tour by the artist Lynda Cutrell as well as an open, community conversation about mental health following after. Nailed It! The Ocean Edition at Dover library

DOVER — On Monday, July 25 at 6 p.m., teens entering grades 6-12 are invited to join us at the Dover Public Library for an ocean themed snack decorating challenge based on the popular Netflix show "Nailed It". Will you nail it and successfully recreate the Pinterest-worthy snack? Or will your creation turn into a hilarious fail? All supplies will be provided, and teens bring their creativity and enthusiasm! Sign up is needed at dover.lib.de.us.

Wayne from Maine in concert

DOVER — The Cochecho Arts Festival Children's Series presents Wayne from Maine  at noon on Tuesday, July 26 at the Rotary Arts Pavilion in Henry Law Park. Tuesdays on the Terrace

PORTSMOUTH — Legendary Seacoast singer Sharon Jones will perform on Tuesday, July 26 in the Tuesdays on the Terrace series at Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth. Concert runs 5:30 to 7 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner or buy dinner and drinks at Strawbery Banke. Attendees can order a Picnic on the Banke in advance directly from the Puddle Dock Restaurant when purchasing tickets and pick up their order at check-in. Orders must be placed by 5 p.m. on the Sunday prior to each concert. Beverages, including beer and wine, are available during the concert. Alcoholic beverages may not be brought onto the property. Tickets are $5 and available online at strawberybanke.org.

Shark Day at Seacoast Science Center

It's Shark Week and the Seacoast Science Center is getting in on the fun with its partner Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. On Wednesday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., they'll present a day of educational programs and ocean safety with the experts. Learn about the shark species that call the Gulf of Maine home. Shark Day will feature fun shark-themed programs, beach safety with Rye Fire Department, hot sauce and shark conservation with The Spicy Shark, sharky reads with Portsmouth Public Library, and more! Be the first to hear about exciting research being conducted right in our own backyard, and gain knowledge about how to safely recreate in the Gulf of Maine this summer.

The center's regular admission prices get you into this event and admission is free for science center members but reservations are required at seacoastsciencecenter.org.

Sacred Ally Quilts on display

WAKEFIELD — The Sacred Ally Quilts memorializing George Floyd's last words will be on display at First Congregational Church of Wakefield July 27 to 31.

The Sacred Ally Quilt Ministry is an exhibition of 10 quilts reminding viewers of the final desperate words spoken by George Floyd as he was pinned to the pavement under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer.  These powerful, emotional, beautiful quilts are the collaborative effort of nine United Church of Christ churches in New Hampshire providing a visual reminder of the need for racial justice.

The display at the First Congregational Church, 2718 Wakefield Road, Wakefield, will be open between 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. from July 27 to 31.  Admission is free.

Learn how to make friendship bracelets

DOVER — On Wednesday, July 27 at 2 p.m., celebrate International Friendship Day (July 30) a few days early by learning how to make a friendship bracelet. Kids entering grades 6-12 are invited to join in for this craft on the Dover Public Library’s front lawn. All supplies will be provided! Rain location is the Library Lecture Hall.

Free Kids' Concert in Somersworth

The Somersworth Festival Association is hosting a series of weekly Kids' Concerts each Wednesday through Aug. 10. All shows are on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Festival Pavilion (Somersworth High School football field). Bring your blankets and chairs. Food will be available for purchase. There will be great raffles sponsored by Breezeline. In the event of inclement weather, the show will be held indoors at the Middle School. Admission is free. On Wednesday, July 27th, the performance will be Tricky Dick's Magic Show sponsored by Service Credit Union. Author to talk about Portsmouth Naval Prison

DOVER — On Wednesday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m., author and historian Katy Kramer will share what she has learned in over a decade of research about the Portsmouth Naval Prison and will show fascinating photos that chronicle the prison's history. DOVER — The Cochecho Arts Festival's series of Shark in the Park concerts presents Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, July 27 at 6 p.m. at the Rotary Arts Pavilion in Henry Law Park. The Shark in the Park Series will run Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. through Aug. 10. The concerts are free. Cochecho Arts Festival buttons will be available at all events for $10 to support the festival.

Hot Summer Nights series

SOUTH BERWICK — The Hot Summer Nights concert series takes place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Central School on Main Street. On Wednesday, July 27, La Madeleine, with its blend of French folk songs and ballads and Celtic fiddle tunes, will feature the group’s original lineup and celebrate the release of a new album, “La Tendresse.” Page Waldo, a graduate of Berwick Academy and a guitarist and vocalist, will open.

Join Dover Public Library’s new Creative Writing Group

DOVER — Join a community of local writers with Dover Public Library’s new creative writing group: Cocheco River Writers. The group meets the fourth Thursday of every month, with the first meeting on Thursday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m., and welcomes all skill levels. Discuss ideas, get tips, and share your work with others in a low-key, inviting atmosphere.

Beach Party to celebrate end of summer reading program

DOVER — On Thursday, July 28 at 6 p.m., join us on the Dover Public Library lawn to celebrate the end of the summer reading program. Dance and sing along to live music from the band "Short Notice". Baked Bean and Chop Suey Supper

KENNEBUNKPORT - The First Congregational Church is hosting an inside/outside/take-out baked bean supper on Saturday, July 30th from 4:30-6:00pm at the church, 141 North St., Kennebunkport. There will be two types of home baked beans,  American Chop Suey, hot dogs, rolls, and cole slaw, topped off with a slice of homemade pie. Church members are hoping that everyone will enjoy the meals as they have in the past, but in a safe setting. Social distancing is suggested. Exact change is required: adults and children age 12 and over $10 per person, and children under 12 $5 per child. There will be limited seating outdoors weather permitting.
