Sharks and Rays Swim Near Fire Island Beach

Footage captured on July 24 shows rays and sharks swimming through schools of fish off New York’s Fire Island.

This aerial video, taken by nature photographer Michael Busch, shows Davis Park Beach and about 100 yards out to sea. At least two sharks and several large rays, possibly cownose rays, Busch said, appear in the video.

Busch said the school was made up of bunker or menhaden fish.

Busch said he knew from previous experience that a “hole” in the school of fish would make it easy to spot predators, and so sent his drone up several times.
