Sharon Osbourne reveals 3-year-old granddaughter tested positive for COVID-19

Sharon Osbourne is stressing the fact that children can get COVID-19 after her youngest grandchild tested positive for the virus that has claimed over 200,000 Americans since March.

Kicking off the new season of “The Talk,” the 67-year-old television revealed her 3-year-old granddaughter contracted COVID-19, despite no one else in her family testing positive for the virus.

Osbourne has opted to quarantine the full two weeks at home instead of joining co-hosts Sheryl Underwood, Eve and Carrie Ann Inaba in the Los Angeles studio where the show is produced.

“I was meant to be in the studio, I was so looking forward to it,” she explained live on Monday. “And then, unfortunately, one of my granddaughters [Minnie] has come down with COVID.”

“She’s okay, she’s doing good,” Osbourne continued, adding: “I don’t have it. Her daddy [Jack Osbourne] doesn’t have it. Her mommy doesn’t have it. Her sisters don’t. She got it from somebody who works for my son. It just goes to show you, she’s 3 years of age, that children can get COVID.”

Osbourne also said she’s counting down the days until she can join her fellow “Talk” hosts at the table, adding, " Oh my Lord, I want to see you guys so bad. I’ve got one more week left of quarantining and then I’m out."

Since March, all co-hosts filmed the show virtually from their homes.

The Osbourne matriarch isn’t leaving anything to chance as she readies her return to the studio.

“And as I say, I don’t have it. I keep testing negative, but, you know, you have to be safe,” she cautioned.

Health officials worldwide have scrambled to understand how the highly contagious novel coronavirus spreads, with some – even President Trump – spreading information early on that it only affects the elderly and people with underlying conditions.

In August, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention assessed that the rate of coronavirus infection is steadily increasing in children, who now made up at least 7% of the cases in the country.
