Shawarma Station to produce tasty food truck items and more at Erie's Flagship City Food Hall

Shawarma Station will be one of nine shops in the Flagship City Food Hall for its soft opening on Sunday. The 150-seat food hall is located along State Street and North Park Row, at the site of the former Sherlock's and Park Place taverns.

Details: Shawarma, or tender slices of skewer-cooked chicken, beef, goat or lamb served with warm flatbread or pita, is a popular menu item at all Middle Eastern restaurants, including the food truck of this name seen around downtown Erie for the past two years. This is the food truck owner Dabbah's first chance at making and serving his popular fare from a brick-and-mortar location.

On his website, flagshipcityfoodhall.com/shawarma-station, Dabbah offers this background: He came to Erie in 2009 as a refugee from Damascus, Syria. He had a catering and business background and started Sham Middle Eastern Market, 760 E. 12th St., as well as the food truck. He said the menu will also feature falafel, hummus, baba ghanosh and more.
