Shawn Johnson East, who is 38 weeks pregnant, ended up in the emergency room on Sunday not due to pregnancy complications, but because of a "freak accident" (according to her Instagram story) that resulted in a broken toe.

The former Olympic gymnast shared in the Instagram story that she dropped a piece of concrete on her foot. “A piece of concrete fell on my foot because I was really excited about petting a dog,” she said. “I broke my big toe, like, just in half.”

Shawn posted an Instagram photo from the hospital, where she got an X-ray and was icing her bruised, swollen foot. "38 weeks pregnant and in the ER....... for a broken big toe 🤣 hahaha only me. All is good, just adding a little more swag to my big mama waddle these days," she wrote in the caption.

Shawn's husband, NFL free agent Answer East, accompanied his wife to the hospital and was impressed with her pain tolerance. "We're at the hospital—nothing to the baby—but mama here smashed her foot with a rock," he said in an Instagram video.

“We come in here and the doctor is pulling on it and he’s like, ‘Does that hurt?’ And she’s like, ‘Nope,’ and I’m sitting here thinking, ‘Wow well, at least it’s just a bruise—the baby’s due in, like, two weeks,’” he said. “But I just got the X-rays back and that right there is the broken bone.”

"Shawn's a champ. I said in labor class she had a six out of 10 pain tolerance. You just got promoted to a seven," he told her with a high five. "Don't worry, babes is alright," he captioned the video.

On Monday, Shawn assured everyone that she was going to be totally fine. “Guys, I’m great, I promise... It’s just a perfect excuse to chill out until baby comes,” she said. "The broken toe will heal right up with ice and time, and she'll be skipping the pain meds "because baby."

The East baby is due in two weeks, although the couple has had a few scares early on in Shawn's pregnancy, as well as a devastating miscarriage in 2017. At their 20-week ultrasound in July, the couple learned that their baby had a two-vessel umbilical cord, dilated kidneys, and could possibly have Down syndrome.

"We had already lost one baby, and hearing any complication of any kind makes you guard your heart and think that this might not work out as well." Shawn previously told Prevention.com. "And for us, we felt such heartbreak with our first baby, but with this one, we were so much farther ahead than last time, that we couldn’t even comprehend losing our baby. To hear things like still birth and miscarriage associated with the complications you’re having is just terrifying."

But then, the parents-to-be announced on their YouTube channel that their baby's kidneys are looking healthy and genetic tests revealed their baby wouldn't have Down syndrome. "We still have to monitor the two-vessel cord, but things look good so far!"

With her due date just two weeks away, Shawn can't wait to welcome her first baby. "Comeeee on babyyyy! 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks.... what’s it going to be?!! 👀🤰 #pregnant," she wrote in a recent Instagram post.
