Shawnee couple goes above and beyond to help children in foster care
SHAWNEE, Kan. — Rosemary Miller volunteers with the Foster Children’s Ministry at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shawnee.
Miller said even though dozens of volunteers work with the ministry to help children and families, Ron and Sheri Rice go above and beyond.

“Not only have they fostered 50 children or more, they’re integral to the foster care ministry here at Saint Joseph,” said Miller.
Miller says the Rice’s work is all day, every day, delivering food, clothes, toys and furniture to foster families.
Praise for selfless woman helping those in need
After surprising the Rice’s with the $400 gift card, it was no surprise what they decided to do with it.
“This is amazing, and this will help our foster care ministry. We had a request for a little girl whose niece has a colostomy bag; she needs special care,” Sheri said. “They needed some help with some groceries; we got grocery money.”
