Shazam! actor Zachary Levi has spoken out about wanting to play a different, and "sexier", DC character.

Speaking at Germany's CCXP Cologne convention (via ComicBook.com), Levi gave a solid "yes" to confirm his interest in playing a villain in the DC universe, but went on to suggest he was most keen on playing another "dark, brooding character" entirely – Batman, to be exact.

Levi was discussing the merits of playing the Caped Crusader instead of Superman, noting that Clark Kent is "the ultimate boy scout" but in the end, Batman is his number one choice.

"Superman is like tried and true, he's always gonna choose right," he said. "I love that because Chuck and Shazam are kind of similar in that regard. I love that about Superman."

He went on: "There's a reason why Batman is one of the most successful characters. In fact, from a TV and film standpoint, Batman is far more successful than Superman, right?

"For the world we live in, and all of the things we kind of hold up and value and whatever, I mean... Batman's way sexier. Batman's like, he's got issues."

The actor has also teased when we can expect a Black Adam crossover, and unfortunately we'll be waiting a while for Shazam to finally face his arch-nemesis.

"I can say that as far as I know, Black Adam is not going to be in the second Shazam!, because the idea is that they want to go and do a standalone Black Adam movie first," he explained.
