Shazer, Fisher lead Marist in scoring but fall to Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WETM) – Elmira’s Zaria Shazer and Kiara Fisher had solid nights in a tough road loss.

Shazer, a senior forward, scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds while fellow senior guard Fisher had 12 points and dished out six assists. Fisher hit two three pointers on the night which paced the Red Foxes in that category.

Marist fell to Canisius in Buffalo 68-52. It was the seventh consecutive loss for Marist who now drops their record to (5-18, 3-10 MAAC).

Canisius improves to (13-10, 8-6 MAAC) on the season. Next up for Fisher and Shazer is a Saturday away game at Niagara. Opening tip-off is set for 2 PM Saturday.

Both Shazer and Fisher were named to the All-MAAC Preseason First Team in October. For the year, Shazer leads the team in overall scoring with 14.2 points per game and rebounding (8.3 per game. Fisher is second on the team in scoring at 10.2 points per game and leads the Red Foxes in assists with 76 on the year.
