She had a meltdown at a Florida airport. Then she coughed on a cop, report says

A Texas woman caused some issues for law enforcement during a recent trip to Orlando, where she extended her stay — behind bars.

Orlando officers responded to a battery call at Orlando International Airport last Tuesday night. There, they spoke with a Spirit Airlines employee who told them a passenger had become “irate” when informed she had to pay $65 for an extra baggage fee.

The passenger, later identified as Emmari Jackson, was told she could not travel due to her “belligerent” behavior. That’s when she began to scream and lash out at various people, according to a police report. All told, five people were attacked, police said.

First, according to the arrest affidavit, the woman threw a bag of shoes at the counter agents. Jackson wasn’t done there, walking around the counter and punching an agent in the head, police said. When passersby tried to intervene, the 21-year-old kicked another person in the head.

Before being detained, the woman bopped yet another person with a metal dustpan from a custodial cart, the report said.

Once at the Orange County Jail, a separate police report from the sheriff’s office says Jackson continued her rampage.

While being booked, the suspect announced she had COVID-19 and began to “purposely” cough and spit in a deputy’s face, without a mask, as well as kick the victim in the chest region, the report said. It’s unclear why a mask wasn’t immediately provided to the woman at the jail.

Jackson was charged with battery at the airport and battery on a corrections officer at the jail.

The Houston woman was released from the Orange County Jail on a $3,500 bond.
