Shea family tradition: Two brothers and a cousin continue a law enforcement legacy in Belmont

It’s a family affair for the Belmont Police Department after Chief James MacIsaac announced their three new officers, Connor Shea, Michael Shea, and Ryan Shea.

After an extensive 21-week academy program the Shea men graduated with the 1st Recruit Officer Class of the Lynnfield Regional Police Academy, and will now begin a Field Training program at the Belmont Police Department.

The new officers are the grandsons of the late Robert Shea, former Belmont Police Chief. Officers Connor Shea and Michael Shea are the sons of BPD Detective Sgt. Kevin Shea. Ryan Shea is the son of Lasell University Police Chief Robert Shea.

“I’m happy to welcome these three young men from a family that has supported law enforcement and served the Town of Belmont for three generations now,” said Chief MacIsaac. “These three men and their entire family have shown a commitment to our community that will continue for years to come.”

The officers were sworn in by Town Clerk Ellen O’Brien on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
