SHEBOYGAN - A fire at a structure in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue Thursday was brought under control by around 1:20 p.m. after firefighters first arrived on scene around 5:30 a.m.

One firefighter was treated and released for heat exhaustion while battling the blaze but no other injuries were reported.

No one was displaced by the fire and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Sheboygan Fire Department and Sheboygan Police Department, the fire department said.

Crews arrived on scene within three minutes of the fire being reported and found heavy smoke and flames coming through the windows and roofline of the building.

The department said that because of “intense fire conditions” crews were using a “defensive fire attack on the building.”

Crews deployed multiple large hose lines on all sides of the structure and worked to gain access to the fire from the outside using saws and hand tools, the department said.

In addition, two ladder trucks were set up to control fire coming through the roof of the building.
