Sheboygan Restaurant Week is March 6-10 at these 9 restaurants — plus more news in weekly dose

SHEBOYGAN - Harbor Centre Business Improvement District will present Sheboygan Restaurant Week in Sheboygan’s downtown, riverfront and South Pier March 6-10.

Brought to the community for the first time since 2019, Sheboygan’s Restaurant Week is a five-day celebration of the city’s locally owned dining scene. Nine restaurants will be offering breakfast, lunch and dinner specials.

Participating restaurants are serving prix-fixe breakfast for $10; two-course, prix-fixe lunches for $15; and three-course, prix-fixe dinners starting at $25. Diners are encouraged to make reservations in advance and document their experiences on social media using the hashtag #SheboyganRestaurantWeek.

Sheboygan County teen wins 4-H Art Contest Best of Show: Sheboygan County’s Austin Kreisa, 13, had her work, “Piggy Mosaic,” selected as Best of Show in this year’s Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Celebrate the Arts 4-H Art Contest.

Also being awarded from Sheboygan County were Link Bimmel, 13, who won an honorable mention for “Old Oliver” in the photography division and Kallen Ruben, 11, whose untitled work on paper earned an emerging artist award for “artistic promise and creativity.”

Winners were selected through a statewide contest that attracted more than 100 entries.

Mariachi band coming to Kohler Memorial Theater March 10: Rock to the rousing sounds of traditional Mexican folk music as Chicago’s Mariachi Herencia de Mexico, a premiere organization dedicated to the preservation and performance of this virtuosic art form, brings Mexican roots music to Kohler Memorial Theater as part of Kohler Foundation’s 78th Distinguished Guest Series at 8 p.m. March 10.

Tickets are available online at kohlerfoundation.org/tickets or by calling 920-458-1972. Kohler Memorial Theater is at 260 School St., Kohler. A dance demonstration featuring Sheboygan South High School’s El Ballet Folklorico will be held 45 minutes prior to the start of the concert. The performance by local high school students will introduce the art and tradition of Mexican ballet folklorico.

Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund benefit concert March 11: A tribute to Aretha Franklin, Etta James and more, performed by Brooke Reams with The Pete Ellman Big Band, will be March 11 at the Performing Arts Center at Sheboygan Lutheran High School, 3323 University Drive, Sheboygan.

The concert is a benefit for the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. with concert starting at 8 p.m.

Dare to Dream to hold rehearsals for ‘Finding Nemo JR.’: Dare to Dream Theatre will hold auditions for “Finding Nemo JR.” March 11 and 13 at Sheboygan Lutheran High School’s Center for Arts and Performance.

People can register an audition slot online at daretodreamtheatre.com, or call 920-645-5806 or email daretodreamtheatre@msn.com for more details.

Performers age 18 and younger are sought for roles of all experience levels. The show will be performed May 12-21 at Sheboygan Lutheran High School’s Center for Arts and Performance.

Up to 60 youth ages 4-18 will be cast. Youngest performers (ages 4-7) will be considered for the ensemble roles of Reef Kids, Baby Turtles and Seagulls. They will be featured in a couple numbers/scenes in the show. Rehearsal commitment will be one to two hours a week.

Performers ages 7-18 will be considered for ensemble roles to include Sea Chorus Dancers, Reef Parents, Professor Ray, Bruce, Crush, The Tank Gang, Nigel and other ensemble roles. Rehearsal commitment will be three to four hours a week per ensemble group.

Performers ages 7-18 may also be considered for featured roles with lines and solos including Nemo, Marlin and Dory. Rehearsal commitment for those roles is three to five hours a week.

Blood drives planned across Sheboygan County: American Red Cross is planning the following local blood drives:

  • March 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Sheboygan Falls High School, 220 Amherst Ave., Sheboygan Falls;

  • March 9, 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, N5990 County Aire Road, Plymouth;

  • March 10, 17, 24 and 31, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Sheboygan Trades and Labor Hall, 1104 Wisconsin Ave., Sheboygan;

  • March 20, 1-6 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes, 230 Butler St., Random Lake; and

  • March 31, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Elkhart Lake High School, 201 Lincoln St., Elkhart Lake.

All who give blood, platelets or plasma in March will receive a $10 Visa Prepaid Card by email. Plus, they’ll be automatically entered for a chance to win a $3,000 Visa Prepaid Card. There will be five winners.
