Sheena Parveen’s replacement, Tammie Souza, starts next week at NBC10
Former NBC10 meteorologist Sheena Parveen wrapped her run at the station in December last year; next week, her replacement will arrive.
As announced in January, Parveen’s ex-gig at NBC10 goes to Tammie Souza, a Pittsburgh native and former meteorologist at Fox32 in Chicago. Souza starts at NBC10 on Monday, and will be seen on evening newscasts at 5 and 11 p.m.
Souza, a graduate of San Diego State University, started in 1996 at Chico, Calif.’s CBS12 as a morning and noon meteorologist. She later held positions as a meteorologist at CBS58 in Milwaukee and NBC5 in Chicago, and served as the first female chief meteorologist in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Fla., with her stint at 10News WTSP.
Souza's work has earned her 17 Emmy nominations and six awards, including for Best Weathercast and Best Science Report, according to a release. In January, Souza called her role at NBC10 her “dream job.”
“I’ve seen it all and have forecasted it all,” Souza said in a release. “Now I’m excited for the next chapter in my life to unfold in Philadelphia, which is known for its various weather patterns.”
Parveen left NBC10 in December 2016 for a weather forecasting gig at NBC4 in Washington. She began broadcasting there in January.
Parveen was one of several high-profile Philly TV news personality departures in 2016, with longtime staples like Renee Chanault-Fattah, Lisa Thomas-Laury, and Walt Hunter, among others, also leaving area news broadcasts.
