Sheetz? AC&T? Wawa? Where do you get your favorite gas station food?

I guess my very first experience with gas station food was in college at the University of Dayton, when a group of us would wander down to the United Dairy Farmers gas station to get ice cream scooped by hand.

But the concept of made-to-order food from a gas station was first introduced to me when a sports reporter at The Evening Sun in Hanover, Pa., suggested we make a Sheetz run after our 1 a.m. shifts were over.

Since those days in the early part of this century — you realize we're talking more than 20 years ago — I've been fortunate enough to dine at several refueling establishments. Rutter's. Wawa. Royal Farms. AC&T. And, of course, return trips to Sheetz.

(Interesting side note that many a Washington Countian already knows: Sheetz's concept of Made-To-Order was created at the old Williamsport location in the 1980s.)

Anyway, through it all, I've come to have my items at my favorite stores.

And I'm betting you do, too.

So, we're going to have a little contest this fall to determine which Tri-State gas station chain has the best food, and which item is the favorite at each spot.

We'll try to keep this simple. For those who are tech savvy, fill out the survey below.

For those not online, you can mail the name of your favorite gas station eatery, your favorite order from that eatery, and your name and phone number to:

The Herald-Mail, Best Gas Station Food, P.O. Box 439, Hagerstown, MD 21741

We'll be counting entries until Monday, Nov. 16, so get your choice in as soon as possible.

Thanks, and may the best gas station win.
