A 6,077-square-foot Sheetz convenience store, restaurant, drive-thru and fuel station is to open on 2.9 acres at the northwest corner of Polaris Parkway and Worthington Road in Westerville.

A grand opening for Sheetz’ Westerville location, 740 Olde Worthington Road, is scheduled for Aug. 23.

The 6,077-square-foot Sheetz center, on 2.9 acres at the northwest corner of Polaris Parkway and Worthington Road, was favorably recommended Feb. 24, 2001 by Westerville's planning commission to Westerville City Council that gave the OK on May 21, 2001.

The location is to mark the store’s 18th in central Ohio.

"Westerville is intentional about encouraging smart growth and welcoming convenient amenities for our residents, businesses and visitors traveling along Polaris Parkway in Westar," said Jason Bechtold, Westerville assistant general manager.

"By including Westerville in their Midwest expansion, Sheetz is going to see some of its most significant growth and use in the region at this site."

The development consists of 1,048 square feet for the restaurant and 5,022 square feet for the retail portion of the building.

The grand opening begins outside the store at 9 a.m. with the store’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony set at 10:45 a.m., according to an Aug. 18 news release from Sheetz' marketing arm.

The new location, which opens to the public at 8 a.m., also is to offer free self-serve coffee and soda for the entire day.

"We have had several new businesses open in the community,” said Janet Tressler-Davis, president and CEO of the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are fortunate these businesses and the hundreds of others throughout the area have chosen greater Westerville to grow and, in some cases, start their business.”

In honor of this grand opening, Sheetz is to donate $2,500 to the NNEMAP Food Pantry, a partner of the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, which distributes food and other resources to residents of Columbus, according to the news release.

Customers attending the grand opening are encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item to the nonprofit. Those who donate are to receive a Sheetz-branded thermal bag, limit one per customer while supplies last, from 9 to 11 a.m.

A second donation of $2,500 is to also be presented to Special Olympics Ohio, the release said.

Sheetz' first central Ohio location was opened in Delaware in April of 2021.
