Shelby man injured when 2 motorcycles, minivan collide

SANDUSKY TOWNSHIP - One person was taken to a hospital following a crash involving a minivan and two motorcycles on Thursday afternoon.

According to reports from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, the crash at Ohio 602 at Ohio 96 east of Bucyrus was reported at 12:48 p.m. Thursday.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by Janet Sutter, 62, of Shelby had been headed west on Ohio 96 and stopped at a stop sign at Ohio 602. The minivan then entered Ohio 602 into the path of two southbound Harley-Davidson motorcycles driven Thomas C. Johnson, 21, Shelby, and Zachery E. Cole, 25, Shelby.

Johnson’s motorcycle struck the minivan and Cole’s crashed attempting to avoid the collision. Both motorcycles went off the road and into the westbound ditch.

Johnson was transported to Avita Health System-Bucyrus Hospital by Life First Ambulance District for treatment. Liberty Township Fire also responded to the scene.
